About

Terraria Map is a free, unofficial set of map tools for Terraria 1.4.5: a seed map, a world file viewer, a seed finder, world downloads, a map editor and guides to the best seeds and secret seeds. It needs no account and no download; ads keep it free.

How the maps are made

Every map is a world made by Terraria 1.4.5.8's own world generator, one world per seed: the same file the game saves. Seeds that are not in our library yet are generated in your browser by a WebAssembly build of that generator, so nothing is sent to a server. The world viewer and the editor read .wld files in your browser too.

The generator is checked against worlds created in the game itself, pass by pass and tile by tile, before a new version goes live.

Windows PC worlds are a little different

Terraria on Windows PC runs as a 32-bit program, and its floating-point math differs slightly from the 64-bit builds on mobile, consoles, macOS, Linux and Steam Deck. For the same seed the layout, biomes, dungeon, ores and shimmer are the same everywhere, but 3 to 5 % of the tiles and some chest contents differ.
