Ocean angling catch and mining capability
Hooked from coastal Ocean waters during pre-Hardmode using any functional fishing pole and bait, this living tool supplies 59% pickaxe power alongside 16 melee damage. It mines common minerals including Demonite, Crimtane, Meteorite, and Obsidian, but cannot break Hellstone or Dungeon Bricks. It bypasses the need to smelt metal pickaxes.
Reforging swing speed and early tier standing
Swinging at 22 use time, it carves through stone at a steady pace. Applying the Light modifier maximizes swing speed, accelerating tunnel clearing during early cavern expeditions. The Molten Pickaxe eventually replaces it with greater power to mine Underworld deposits and early Hardmode veins.
Trivia
- Prior to update 1.4, this oceanic pickaxe possessed 100% mining power for early Hellstone harvesting.
- Reeled in as an uncommon tool catch from Ocean biomes in pre-Hardmode.
