Hive block geography and sticky liquids

Regular dirt and stone layers are replaced by dense hive geometry. Most bodies of water generate as viscous honey pools that slow character movement down to a crawl while granting life regeneration.

Crispy honey and obsidian form naturally where lava touches honey pockets underground. Mining through hive blocks frequently spawns aggressive bees and hornets, so carrying a wide melee weapon or piercing spell is necessary to sweep incoming swarms away before digging further into cavern layers.

Merchant companion and stray Queen Bee larvae

Starting beside the Merchant allows purchasing torches, an iron anvil, and mining supplies immediately, provided you collect loose coins from nearby urns and chests.

Because jungle hive structures dominate the underground, Queen Bee larvae are scattered at random depths rather than confined to isolated bee hives. Stray swings of a pickaxe or falling projectiles can easily crack a larva and awaken the Queen Bee prematurely. Keep track of larva positions before swinging weapons wildly through unexplored honey veins.

Mobility accessories and the surface shrine

Moving across sticky terrain is much easier once you equip movement boots and double jumps. A Gold Chest containing Hermes Boots rests 150 ft east and 306 ft below the surface, 442 ft from spawn. For vertical agility, a Gold Chest holding a Cloud in a Bottle sits 442 ft west and 650 ft below the surface, 874 ft from spawn.

The map also conceals 1 sword shrine carved high up at 3552 ft west and 46 ft above the surface, 3,546 ft from spawn. In the atmosphere above, 3 floating islands overlook the honey landscape, with the closest perched 1180 ft east and 450 ft above the surface.
