Desert harvesting and retaliatory thorns mechanics
Crafted at a Work Bench using 30 Cactus blocks, the Cactus Breastplate provides 1 defense to the torso slot. When worn with a Cactus Helmet and Cactus Leggings, the suit activates a thorns set bonus. This effect inflicts contact damage back onto attacking enemies, dealing 15 damage in Classic mode, 30 damage in Expert mode, and 45 damage in Master mode to punish aggressive monsters.
Zero-ore accessibility and early exploration utility
Unlike metal chestpieces that require smelting furnaces and anvils, the Cactus Breastplate can be fashioned minutes after entering a world by chopping surface desert cacti. Although it grants only 1 base defense compared to the 2 defense of Copper Chainmail, the offensive thorns retaliation helps thin out aggressive bats, zombies, and slimes during early underground mining while conserving metallic resources for weapons.
