Raw fish slicing at the early work bench
Sashimi is prepared by slicing 1 fresh raw fish at a basic Work Bench. Compatible catches include Tuna, Salmon, Red Snapper, and Flounder. Unlike standard hot entrees that require iron or lead bars to construct a Cooking Pot, Sashimi can be crafted immediately upon catching eligible coastal or river fish. Consuming it activates Plenty Satisfied for 8 minutes (28,800 ticks).
Speedy nourishment and starter combat protection
Because Sashimi only requires a starter Work Bench and a single fish, it serves as an early-game bridge to tier two food enhancements. The resulting buff delivers +3 defense, +3% critical strike chance, +7.5% damage, and boosted life regeneration, helping fragile characters endure early cave traps and surface blood moons. Extra prepared fillets sell to merchants for 5 silver, providing modest pocket change from early fishing sessions.
Trivia
- Sashimi is one of the few cooked food items in Terraria crafted at a Work Bench rather than a Cooking Pot or Cauldron.
- Any of the four common table fish will produce the exact same single serving of Sashimi.
