Demonite whip forging and vile lash extension
Introduced in 1.4.5, the Soulscourge is a pre-Hardmode summoner whip crafted from 12 Demonite Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil. Delivering 17 base summon damage with an average swing time of 30 ticks, this corrupt lash allows summoners to whip distant targets while directing minion focus. Each strike inflicts 5 summon tag damage, enhancing every hit landed by active summons. It enables summoners to maintain safe distance against corrupt foes while harvesting demonic resources.
Corruption summoner pacing and tag synergy
Serving as the Corruption counterpart to Vasculash, the weapon provides early summoners with an accessible milestone between Leather Whip and Snapthorn. Its tag bonus pairs effectively with swarming minions like the Vampire Frog Staff against Eater of Worlds segments. Summoners can also alternate whip swings with Snapthorn to stack tag bonuses and maximize minion damage against tough targets. Because whips benefit from melee prefix modifiers, reforging to the Legendary prefix delivers the highest attainable boosts to swing speed, base damage, size, and knockback.
Trivia
- Soulscourge and Vasculash were introduced in 1.4.5 to grant world evil biomes their own thematic summoner whips.
