Crimson desert predators and debilitating afflictions
When Hardmode converts an arid desert with the Crimson, the Blood Mummy emerges from the crimson sand dunes. Moving faster than ordinary desert mummies, it stalks players with 18 defense and high contact damage. Striking a player inflicts the Bleeding debuff, which halts natural life regeneration, and the Silenced debuff, preventing spellcasters from using mana-consuming weapons.
Farming Dark Shards and Ankh Shield components
Defeating Blood Mummies is a popular farming objective for rangers and warriors in early Hardmode. Each defeated mummy offers a 10% chance to drop a Dark Shard, a vital crafting component used to forge the explosive Onyx Blaster shotgun and the Dao of Pow flail. Additionally, players hunting Ankh Shield components can obtain the Blindfold (1%) to counter Darkness and the Megaphone (1%) to resist Silenced.
Trivia
- Despite being exclusive to the Crimson, the Blood Mummy drops Dark Shards just like its Corrupted counterpart.
- Its wraps are stained deep red from the crimson sands in which it was buried.
