Ichor-drenched ghouls of the subterranean crimson desert

The Tainted Ghoul is a ravenous undead beast that roams the Underground Desert infected by Crimson in Hardmode. Endowed with 220 health and 32 defense, it sprints across red sandstone with high agility, clawing defenders with 64 contact damage in Classic, 128 in Expert, and 192 in Master. Contact with this rotting predator inflicts the Ichor debuff, stripping away fifteen points of player defense.

Farming ichor and dark shards in crimson sands

Because the Ichor debuff severely compromises armor, letting Tainted Ghouls corner you in tight underground desert pits can result in sudden defeat. Ranged weapons with knockback keep them at bay. Slaying Tainted Ghouls rewards Ichor at a 33.3% rate (yielding 1–3 ichor), alongside Dark Shards at 6.67% for crafting dark weapons, and Ancient Cloth at 10%.

Trivia

  • Its strikes inflict the Ichor debuff, reducing target defense and leaving players vulnerable to follow-up strikes.
  • It represents the Crimson desert counterpart to the Corruption's Vile Ghoul and Hallow's Dreamer Ghoul.
