Hoppin' Jacks are animated jack-o'-lanterns that spawn on the surface during the seasonal Halloween event and inside foggy Graveyards during Hardmode. Bouncing along the grass with springy vertical momentum, this pumpkin menace possesses 175 life and 20 defense. Its jarring impact deals 80 contact damage, surprising players who mistake its rhythmic bounding for ordinary slime hopping.
Accelerating jump cadence as pumpkin flesh fractures
As a Hoppin' Jack sustains damage and loses health, its bouncing cadence accelerates drastically. In its weakened state, it executes rapid-fire vertical lunges that can bypass shield parries and trap players against walls. In Expert mode its vitality increases to 350 life and 160 damage, while Master mode pushes it to 525 life. Keeping distance using long-range firearms or homing magic prevents its erratic final bounces from connecting.
