Coastal apex predators circling open ocean waters

Sharks patrol the deep water columns at the far edges of the map in the Ocean biome. Built with 300 health and 2 defense, a Shark glides smoothly through water, dealing 40 contact damage in Classic, 80 in Expert, and 120 in Master. Because player movement speed is severely restricted underwater without flippers, an aggroed Shark can quickly outpace and corner an unprepared diver.

Farming shark fins for minishark upgrades and potions

Hunting Sharks from wooden surface platforms with ranged weapons or spears keeps players safe from underwater melee collisions. Defeating Sharks is vital for progression, as they drop Shark Fins at a 95% rate, required for crafting the Megashark, Hunter Potions, and Water Walking Potions. They also yield the Diving Helmet at 5%, Shrimp Po Boy at 2%, and the decorative Shark Kite at 4%.

Trivia

  • Sharks cannot leave water tiles and will rapidly thrash and drown if beached onto dry sand.
