Shimmer
- Shimmer turns it into Ambrosia.
Temperate forest tree shaking and orchard gathering
Apples drop occasionally when striking or chopping standard Forest trees with an axe. When a tree is shaken, there is a small chance to dislodge ambient fruit, with Apples rolling from the temperate forest pool. Consuming an Apple grants the Well Fed buff for 5 minutes (18,000 ticks), granting minor stat improvements including +2 defense, +2% critical strike rate, and increased movement speed.
Culinary juicing and permanent Ambrosia transmutations
Beyond serving as a quick snack, Apples can be cooked into Apple Juice at a Cooking Pot using an empty bottle to double their buff duration. Furthermore, tossing an Apple into shimmering liquid transmutes it into Ambrosia, permanently granting +5% mining and tile placement speed to the player character. Unused surplus apples can be sold to town vendors for 20 silver each.
Trivia
- The item tooltip humorously proclaims 'An apple a day keeps Doctor Bones away!', referencing the rare subterranean skeleton mob.
- Apples can also be combined with any other fruit to blend generic Fruit Juice at a Cooking Pot.
