Subterranean drop and excavation ratings
This skeletal tool drops from the rare Undead Miner lurking within the Cavern layer, possessing a drop rate of roughly 5%. It features 55% pickaxe power, putting it on equal footing with crafted gold and platinum pickaxes. With this potency, spelunkers can harvest Demonite, Crimtane, and Meteorite deposits without needing to smelt rare surface ores.
Speed profile and practical mining strategy
The standout strength of this tool lies in its rapid useTime 19, outpacing the standard Gold Pickaxe at useTime 20. It deals 8 base melee damage, sufficient to fend off encroaching bats in tight crawlspaces. Applying the Light prefix further sharpens its animation speed, creating a brisk early tunneling implement that rewards players who farm cavern skeletons early in a playthrough.
Trivia
- It cannot be crafted at an anvil, existing solely as a rare monster drop from cavern miners.
