Cavern explosives and mining hazards
The Undead Miner is a rare subterranean skeleton found roaming the Cavern layer, identifiable by his lit mining helmet and pickaxe. Carrying 70 health and 9 defense, he trudges through unlit corridors and delivers 22 contact damage in Classic, scaling to 44 in Expert and 66 in Master. When players approach within throwing distance, he hurls lit Bombs that bounce off cave floors and detonate with violent splash damage.
Farming the elusive mining set
Miners prize this rare skeleton for his signature gear. He drops the Mining Shirt at a 12% rate and the Mining Pants at 12%, which together with the Mining Helmet provide the full Mining armor set and a 30% bonus to mining speed. He also drops individual Bombs (72%) at 72% to replenish excavation reserves. Because he spawns infrequently, using a Water Candle and Battle Potion in wide cavern chambers speeds up farming.
Trivia
- His illuminated Mining Helmet casts a functional light radius that reveals his approach in pitch-black caves.
- He is one of the few pre-Hardmode enemies capable of throwing explosive projectiles at players.
