| Platinum Chainmail | 30 × Platinum Bar | Iron Anvil |
Forging the premier surface metal chestplate
Constructed from 30 Platinum Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, Platinum Chainmail provides 6 defense. Smelting the required ingots demands 120 raw Platinum Ore collected from underground caverns. Wearing this chestpiece alongside Platinum Helmet and Platinum Greaves triggers a set bonus granting 4 additional defense, bringing total suit protection to 20.
Defensive benchmarking for early boss encounters
This piece provides higher individual protection than Gold Chainmail, establishing it as the most protective pre-evil metal armor obtainable from surface world generation. The 20 total defense from the full suit allows players to absorb harsh physical impacts from Eye of Cthulhu charges and subterranean trap damage. Because platinum deposits spawn irregularly, miners often weigh assembling full chainmail against forging pickaxes and broadswords first.
Trivia
- Platinum Chainmail provides 6 defense, the highest single-piece value among basic ore chestplates.
- Smelting the 30 ingots required for this chainmail consumes 120 units of raw platinum ore.
