Forging demonite into heavy legwear
Crafted at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil using 20 Demonite Bar ingots and 15 Shadow Scale fragments, these greaves grant 6 defense. They passively increase critical strike chance by 5% for all attacks. Collecting the required materials requires defeating the Eater of Worlds or smashing shadow orbs situated deep within corrupted chasms. This critical strike bonus applies across melee, ranged, magic, and summon armaments.
Speed scaling and corruption synergy
When assembled alongside Shadow Helmet and Shadow Scalemail, this piece completes the Shadow armor set to unlock a +15% movement speed bonus. Unlike the health regeneration granted by Crimson Greaves, Shadow greaves emphasize agility and swift positioning. This speed bonus allows warriors to kite hazardous ground monsters and dodge boss projectiles smoothly across wooden platforms. The speed increase remains useful throughout Pre-Hardmode exploration.
