Conjuring explosive fireblasts behind ash walls
Diabolists are feared spellcasters lurking exclusively in post-Plantera Dungeon chambers lined with brick walls. Cloaked in dark red robes, they teleport throughout dungeon halls, taking position to channel dangerous pyromantic magic. Once channeled, they launch a fiery projectile that lingers before detonating into a gigantic expanding explosion. This blast pierces solid blocks and deals extreme magic damage while applying burning debuffs, turning tight stone corridors into infernal kill zones.
Pinpointing teleporting sorcerers for the inferno fork
Despite their modest 200 life in Classic (rising to 400 in Expert and 600 in Master), Diabolists present an urgent priority target whenever their incantations illuminate the room. Staggering them with rapid ranged fire or homing summons interrupts their spell preparation before they cast or teleport. Slaying a Diabolist offers a 5% chance to secure the Inferno Fork, an endgame magic weapon allowing sorcerers to launch their own lingering, explosive fireballs.
Trivia
- Diabolists will immediately teleport to a new location in the dungeon if they receive damage or finish casting a spell.
- The lingering explosion produced by a Diabolist's spell penetrates thin dungeon walls.
