Tavernkeep wares and explosive mug projection
Purchased from the Tavernkeep for 1 gold coin after defeating the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu. The Ale Tosser hurls pressurized mugs of Ale that burst on contact or after bouncing off surfaces, dealing 32 ranged damage with 4 knockback in a wide blast area. Mugs bounce up to three times before detonating if they do not strike a foe directly.
Pre-Hardmode explosive comparisons and safe area damage
Unlike traditional Grenade explosives, the mugs fired by the Ale Tosser deal no self-inflicted damage to the player, making it far safer in tight caverns. Its ammunition is inexpensive, as Ale can be bought in bulk from the Tavernkeep or brewed at a Keg using mugs. Its high per-hit damage makes it effective against the Wall of Flesh Hungry tentacles. Unreal is its top modifier.
Trivia
- Despite creating explosive area blasts, the Ale Tosser will never hurt the player who threw the mug.
- The Tavernkeep himself uses this weapon to defend his location against invading monsters during goblin assaults.
