Awakening the unconscious traveler after evil boss defeats
The Tavernkeep arrives from the world of Dungeon Defenders II after the player defeats either the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu. He spawns as the Unconscious Man lying on the ground across surface or subterranean biomes. Speaking with him restores his senses, enabling him to move into any vacant house.
In combat, he flings heavy mugs of ale at encroaching monsters. If slain, he drops the Ale Tosser at a 12.5% rate. He maintains a solid tavernkeeper physique of 250 life and 15 defense, dealing 10 contact damage against foes.
Managing the Eternia Crystal and defender armaments
He serves as the quartermaster for the Old One's Army event, selling Eternia Crystals and the Eternia Crystal Stand for gold coins. He gifts five free Defender Medals upon initial dialogue to fund your first sentry weapon. Defending the crystal earns further Defender Medals, which he trades for sentry weapons (Flameburst, Ballista, Explosive Trap, Lightning Aura) across three progression tiers.
He also sells specialized hybrid armor sets like Squire, Monk, Huntress, and Apprentice armor, which upgrade post-Golem into formidable endgame sets like Valhalla Knight and Dark Artist.
Hallowed tavern hospitality and sentry armories
The Tavernkeep serves refreshments and specialized sentry gear to defenders of the Eternia Crystal. The preference table above details his complete environmental ratings and neighbor rankings.
Setting up his tavern in the Hallow near the Demolitionist ensures affordable prices on Ale and Old One's Army sentries while powering the local Hallow Pylon. Defender Medals earned from invasion victories can be traded with him for powerful hybrid armor sets and war summoner accessories.
Fortifying flat arenas for the Old One's Army
Triggering the Old One's Army event requires placing the Eternia Crystal Stand along a broad, completely flat expanse of blocks. Mysterious portals spawn at both edges of the arena, sending forth waves of Etherian goblins, wyverns, and ogres that march toward the crystal. Conquering the event unlocks his sentry rods for permanent use anywhere across the world.
Trivia
- His defender sentries can only be summoned freely outside the Old One's Army event once the event is conquered.
- He gives five free Defender Medals upon initial interaction to help purchase your first sentry rod.
