Found inside Living Wood Chests nestled within the hollow trunks of surface Living Trees, the Finch Staff serves as an entry-level summon weapon. It summons a baby finch that perches peacefully in a small twig nest atop the player's head. When hostile monsters draw near, the fledgling flies outward to peck persistently at airborne or grounded targets, dealing 7 base summon damage alongside 4 knockback.

Early summoner minion synergy and whip pairing

The Finch Staff provides summoners with their earliest dedicated minion alongside Abigail's Flower and the rare Slime Staff. While its individual peck damage is modest, its constant air harassment chips away at flyers and crawling slimes during early surface travels. Pairing the finch with early whips like Snapthorn significantly improves its targeting focus and attack speed. Reforging to the Ruthless modifier provides the highest pure minion damage boost.
