Rare slime hunting and baby slime summoning

The Slime Staff is infamous as one of the rarest weapon drops in the game, dropping from ordinary slimes at an minuscule 1 in 10,000 rate. Encountering the rare mini-boss Pinky boosts this drop chance to a much friendlier 1 in 100. When swung, the staff consumes mana to summon a Baby Slime minion that bounds across terrain to tackle hostile ground targets.

Money farming utility and ruthless modifier

Dealing only 8 base summon damage, the minion quickly falls behind pre-Hardmode summons for serious boss encounters. Yet this low attack power gives the staff an enduring endgame role: paired with the Lucky Coin, the Baby Slime lands dozens of non-lethal strikes against trapped foes, extracting vast fortunes of coins without defeating the targets. For raw minion damage, Ruthless provides the highest summon multiplier since minions do not benefit from knockback or speed bonuses.

Trivia

  • The Baby Slime minion occasionally sports a tiny spiked helmet or flower accessory when summoned by the player.
  • Due to its rapid multi-hit contact ticks, it triggers coin generation accessories far more often than hard-hitting summons.
