Minion capacity expansion and consecrated fabric
Introduced in update 1.4.0.1 to provide a dedicated summoner option, the Hallowed Hood is fashioned from 12 Hallowed Bar ingots at a hardmode anvil. It grants 1 defense, increases summon damage by 10%, and expands the wearer minion capacity by 1. This addition gave summoners a clear progression path directly comparable to the other three combat disciplines after toppling their first mechanical boss.
Summoner survivability through Holy Protection
When worn with Hallowed Plate Mail and Hallowed Greaves, the set bonus grants Holy Protection along with 2 additional minion slots. Combining the individual hood benefit with the full set bonus yields 3 bonus minions in total. The Holy Protection buff absorbs one damaging hit every 30 seconds upon striking a foe with a whip or minion, compensating for low base armor ratings during chaotic boss encounters.
