Underground tundra farming and spinning scythe blades
The Ice Sickle drops with a 1% chance from Armored Viking, Ice Tortoise, Icy Merman, and Ice Elemental in the subterranean Snow biome during Hardmode. Every swing propels a spinning crescent blade of ice into the air. The projectile decelerates rapidly and lingers in place for several seconds, shredding any hostile monster that walks into its icy path.
Segmented boss shredding and legendary reforge
Dealing 50 base melee damage, the hovering sickles pierce multiple times without consuming any mana or ammunition. This makes the weapon potent against multi-segmented bosses such as The Destroyer, where lingering sickles can strike dozens of body segments simultaneously while the player maneuvers safely. Reforging to Legendary yields the optimal setup, conferring boosted damage, critical probability, and weapon swing speed.
Trivia
- The projectile emitted by the Ice Sickle does not dissipate upon hitting tiles, allowing it to spin harmlessly against walls.
- The scythe blade fades through three color stages as its duration expires before vanishing.
