The Jousting Lance is purchased from the Zoologist for 6 gold coins once players reach Hardmode and uncover at least 30% of the Bestiary. Unlike conventional spears, holding the attack button keeps the lance leveled forward in a channeled pose. It inflicts 60 base melee damage, but its true offensive output scales with the player's movement speed: charging at high velocity multiplies both damage and knockback dramatically upon impact.

Mount tactics and reforge considerations

Equipping sprint accessories like Hermes Boots or riding high-speed mounts such as a Basilisk transforms this lance into a devastating hit-and-run weapon capable of impaling tough cavern monsters. However, attacking head-on risks taking contact damage if an enemy survives the charge, requiring careful hit timing. Since lances cannot receive attack speed modifiers, Godly is the best modifier, optimizing critical rate, knockback, and base striking power.
