Lunar Portal Staff is a summoner sentry weapon dropped by the Moon Lord. When placed near the cursor, it conjures an ethereal lunar gateway that hovers midair for several minutes. Once hostile targets enter its operational radius, the portal discharges a continuous, piercing light beam that sweeps across enemies, tracking moving foes on both ground and sky. The sentry deals 100 base sentry damage with 7.5 knockback, hitting repeatedly as its beam sweeps across targets.

Sentry tier comparisons and Ruthless prefix

Lunar Portal Staff shares endgame sentry status with the Rainbow Crystal Staff, which also drops from the Moon Lord. While Rainbow Crystal excels at clustered ground explosions against dense hordes, Lunar Portal provides superior tracking against fast-moving aerial targets and floating bosses due to its sweeping beam velocity. Because sentries do not benefit from player knockback or critical strike boosts, the Ruthless modifier is the best prefix, boosting raw summon damage while minimizing unnecessary stat costs.
