Demonite bar assembly and sustained cavern reach
The Malaise is a pre-Hardmode Corruption yoyo forged from 10 Demonite Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil. Delivering 16 base melee damage, it maintains a flight time of 7 seconds while extending approximately 19 tiles from the wielder. Players can craft it early by mining exposed demonite veins before defeating world bosses. Unlike thrown flails, the yoyo follows cursor movements directly, allowing precise positioning around stone barricades.
Corrupt yoyo zoning and accessory pairing
As the Corruption counterpart to the Crimson's Artery, the Malaise provides safe distance control when fighting Devourers and Eater of Souls within dark chasms. Pairing the weapon with a White String extends its operational radius, while a Black Counterweight provides supplementary knockback against advancing enemies. Because yoyos cannot benefit from melee attack speed modifiers, the Godly prefix represents the optimal reforge for maximizing damage and critical strike chance.
Trivia
- Crafting the Malaise requires only Demonite Bars, allowing miners to obtain it before defeating the Eye of Cthulhu.
