Goodie bag unwrapping and friendly NPC damage
Obtained by opening Goodie Bags dropped by monsters during Halloween seasonal celebrations, the Rotten Egg serves a mischievous niche. Hurled at Very fast throw rate (19 use time), it inflicts 13 base ranged damage with 6.5 knockback before splattering on impact. The thrown projectile travels in a short arc, breaking into yolk particles upon hitting any surface. Uniquely among player weaponry, Rotten Eggs can inflict direct damage on friendly town NPCs without triggering hostile town hostility.
Town management utility and progression roles
Because Rotten Eggs bypass the usual protections on town residents, players use them to eliminate specific NPCs for exclusive loot. Throwing them at the Clothier drops his Red Hat vanity item, while hitting the Guide in the Underworld summons the Wall of Flesh without relying on lava buckets. Wearing Frost armor adds frostburn ticks to speed up the process. Being single-use consumable projectiles, Rotten Eggs cannot receive reforges.
