Superheated Blood

Underworld lava fishing and crate loot

Superheated Blood is found by opening Obsidian Crates or Hellstone Crates fished from lava in the Cavern and Underworld layers, appearing with a 20% drop rate from their rare item pool. It summons the Lava Shark, a molten aquatic predator engineered for subterranean fluid reservoirs. On dry stone surfaces, the shark crawls along the floor with clumsy, reduced movement speed, but entering any liquid transforms it into a swift cruiser.

Immunity and high speed in molten depths

Once submerged in lava, water, or honey, the Lava Shark accelerates to a rapid swimming velocity of 73 mph. More importantly, riding the shark grants complete immunity to lava contact, protecting the rider from molten heat damage without needing an Obsidian Skin potion. This makes it an outstanding mount for building Underworld bridges, mining Hellstone ore veins, and fishing undisturbed amid molten lava lakes.

Trivia

• The Lava Shark grants complete immunity to lava contact as long as the player remains mounted.
• Its rapid swimming speed operates identically across lava, water, and sticky honey pools.
