Dark Mage's Tome

Old One's Army prize and hovering levitation

The Dark Mage's Tome drops from the Dark Mage with a 25% drop rate during the Old One's Army event in Master Mode worlds. Using this item summons a rideable Tome Mount that hovers above the terrain. While mounted, the player glides horizontally at a constant altitude, allowing smooth travel over jagged chasms, thorns, and lava pools without making contact with ground hazards.

Horizontal gliding and arena construction utility

Unlike standard wings that consume flight time and force a descent, the book mount provides indefinite horizontal gliding along terrain contours. Riders benefit from full immunity to fall damage, making it a reliable option for early Hardmode exploration and mining. Its steady cruising speed and smooth handling make it a favorite tool for constructing extended sky bridges, placing platform arenas, and evading low-altitude boss attacks without burning wing stamina.
