 Water Strider Cage | 1 × Terrarium, 1 × Water Strider | By hand |
Aquatic surface walking and shoreline collection
Skating lightly across calm surface ponds and swamp waters, this slender insect walks directly on liquid surfaces without sinking. Players can collect it using a Bug Net while standing on wooden platforms, lily pads, or shoreline banks along natural lakes and ponds. Combining one with a glass Terrarium creates a Water Strider Cage for animated critter display in player buildings.
Early angling fodder and shopkeeper trading
Offering 17% bait power, this aquatic critter provides usable bait for early pond fishing trips and ocean exploratory hauls. While it falls slightly behind standard worms and dragonflies in raw percentage, its steady presence on still water bodies offers emergency bait when exploring plains. Surplus specimens can be sold to town merchants for 10 silver each to help purchase basic tools, iron anvils, and seeds.
Trivia
- Skates across the water surface using surface tension rather than swimming.
- Can be netted from shoreline edges or wooden platforms suspended over lakes.
