Corrupted ebonsand walkers in the purple desert
In worlds where the spreading Corruption engulfs an underground or surface desert during Hardmode, the Dark Mummy begins patrolling the dunes. Wrapped in shadowy burial shrouds, this undead wanderer moves with surprising haste across ebonsand slopes. Direct contact with its decaying bandages exposes victims to the Darkness debuff, which severely restricts screen visibility, alongside the Silenced debuff to shut down magic casting.
Securing dark shards for the Onyx Blaster
Hunting Dark Mummies is a cornerstone of early Hardmode progression for ranged and melee specialists alike. The enemy boasts a 10% chance to yield a Dark Shard, an essential ingredient needed alongside dark souls to craft the powerful Onyx Blaster firearm and Dao of Pow. In addition, players can collect the Blindfold (1%) to gain immunity against vision obscurities and the Megaphone (1%) to shield against silence.
Trivia
- Dark Mummies generate exclusively on ebonsand blocks within corrupted desert biomes.
- The Darkness debuff inflicted by Dark Mummies can be completely negated by wearing the Blindfold they drop.
