Airborne aquatic gliders swooping during rainfall
Flying Fish appear above grassy surface terrain whenever rain falls across the world. Possessing 20 life and 4 defense, they soar smoothly through rainy skies, striking for 9 contact damage (18 in Expert and 27 in Master). They can easily hop across dry land to pursue players who step away from puddles, flapping aggressively until defeated.
Snatching rain songs and french fries from stormy skies
Because Flying Fish swoop down in wide arcs, timing broad melee swings or using shotguns knocks them out of the air before they connect. Because they swarm during heavy thunderstorms, keeping a summon or wooden barricade outside early bases prevents them from harassing crafting stations. Defeating Flying Fish provides Glowsticks at 100% (quantity 1–4), French Fries at a 2% rate, and a 1% chance to acquire the musical Rain Song guitar.
Trivia
- Flying Fish only spawn on the surface while it is actively raining and despawn if weather clears.
