Heavy frontline shock infantry of the saucer invasion

The Gray Grunt is the standard extraterrestrial infantryman of the Martian Madness event, sporting classic grey alien anatomy and bulbous dark eyes. Despite functioning as frontline foot soldiers, Gray Grunts boast exceptional physical durability with 750 base health and 30 defense. They advance steadily across the ground toward player fortifications, absorbing incoming projectile barrages while creating space for rearward snipers like the Brain Scrambler/.

Clearing alien crowds with wide-sweeping heavy weapons

Because they lack ranged weapons or high mobility, Gray Grunts are easily kited using elevated platforms or controlled with piercing weaponry like chlorophyte bullets and solar eruption flails. Defeating them helps rapidly clear event waves and grants bundles of Martian Conduit Plating (12.5%). Grunts also provide small chances to drop Martian Costume vanity pieces and high-tech Martian invasion armaments including the Laser Drill (0.13%) and Charged Blaster Cannon (0.13%).

Trivia

  • Gray Grunts possess more base life than most other regular humanoid invasion enemies in Terraria.
  • Their appearance is a direct homage to the classic pop-culture depiction of Grey extraterrestrials.
