Charging reptiles of the underground desert
Basilisks prowl the subterranean sandstone chambers of the Underground Desert once Hardmode begins. These swift four-legged reptiles sprint down narrow corridors with rapid forward momentum, attempting to ram explorers against corridor walls. Boasting 270 health and 34 defense, they absorb heavy gunfire before breaking stride, dealing 65 contact damage in Classic and 130 in Expert.
Securing sturdy fossils and ancient mount horns
Hunting Basilisks yields Sturdy Fossils at a 100% chance, providing bundles of 1–3 for fossil crafting and bone throwing daggers. Their most prized trophy is the Ancient Horn, dropping at a 2% rate. When used, the horn summons a ridable Basilisk mount capable of ramming through enemy swarms at high velocity while granting double jump mobility.
Trivia
- The Basilisk mount summoned by the Ancient Horn inflicts high contact damage when sprinting at top speed.
- Basilisks have substantial knockback resistance compared to desert ghouls.
