Floating targets during windy weather

Windy Balloons are passive targets that float across the surface landscape whenever the Windy Day weather condition is active. Propelled by brisk surface gusts, these colorful balloons drift harmlessly through the air, dealing 0 damage and possessing a mere 1 health point. Any stray arrow, dart, or swung tool instantly pops the balloon on impact, causing its tethered parcel to tumble down toward the player.

Collecting kites and aerodynamic paper airplanes

Popping these drifting targets is a primary method for acquiring recreational toys and kites outside of town NPC shops. Each ruptured balloon has a 1.39% chance to drop various vibrant kites, such as the Bunny Kite (1.39%), Goldfish Kite (1.39%), or traditional diamond kites like the Red Kite (1.39%). Balloons may also drop stacks of folding Paper Airplanes (1.39%), which can be thrown through the breeze for fun.

Trivia

  • A Windy Balloon cannot inflict contact damage even if a player runs directly into it.
  • They only appear naturally on days when wind velocities are high enough to trigger the Windy Day music.
