Segmented serpent of the blood moon deep
The Blood Eel is a colossal burrowing sea serpent hooked from open water during Blood Moon fishing in Hardmode. Possessing 6,000 life and zero defense, this serpentine leviathan flies out of the water and coils through open air, delivering 90 contact damage from its vicious head in Classic, scaling to 180 in Expert and 270 in Master. Its rapid coiling flight makes it one of the fiercest fishing mini-bosses.
Coiling flight tactics and heavy weapon drops
Because the Blood Eel has no armor, weapons that hit multiple body segments simultaneously deal massive aggregate damage. Using piercing melee weapons, shotguns with crystal bullets, or the Daedalus Stormbow shreds its body quickly. Slaying the Blood Eel rewards the Drippler Crippler flail at a 12.5% rate and the Haemorrhaxe axe at 12.5%, along with Chum Buckets (50%).
Trivia
- Its head has zero defense, meaning every point of player weapon damage penetrates without reduction.
- Unlike subterranean worms, the Blood Eel flies freely through open air without requiring solid blocks.
