Aquatic brawlers of the blood moon tide

The Zombie Merman is a hulking amphibious monster pulled from the depths during Blood Moon fishing. Endowed with 400 life and 20 defense, it climbs out of the water to charge players on land, dealing 40 contact damage in Classic, 80 in Expert, and 120 in Master. High knockback resistance and heavy armor make it an intimidating brawler for unarmored pre-Hardmode fishermen.

Defensive platforms and blood fishing prizes

Anglers should construct elevated wooden platforms above bloody lakes to fish safely without being cornered by surfacing Zombie Mermen. Slaying the creature offers identical prized loot to the Wandering Eye Fish: the Vampire Frog Staff (12.5%), Blood Rain Bow (12.5%), Chum Caster (12.5%), and Money Trough (6.67%), along with stacks of Chum Buckets (50%).

Trivia

  • It possesses complete immunity to knockback, forcing players to rely on swift movement rather than staggering blows.
  • Fishing with a Sonar Potion reveals its name before reeling it in, allowing anglers to prepare defenses.
