Developer bag acquisition and continuous slashing arc
Arkhalis is obtained from Hardmode boss Treasure Bags in Expert or Master Mode as part of Arkhalis' developer set. Unlike standard broadswords that swing along predictable curved arcs, Arkhalis generates a high-velocity, translucent blade vortex centered on the player's cursor. This slashing field strikes hostiles repeatedly throughout each attack cycle, damages foes through single-tile walls, sheds light in dark environments, and deflects fragile incoming enemy projectiles.
Reforging constraints and rapid-frequency melee utility
The weapon inflicts 25 base melee damage per impact, which translates into immense total DPS due to its continuous contact hit rate. Because its animation mechanics bypass standard weapon speed modifiers, the sword cannot receive the Legendary prefix, making Godly or Demonic the optimal reforge for maximizing damage and critical strike chance. While its pre-Hardmode counterpart Terragrim is discovered in shrines, Arkhalis thrives in Hardmode against segmented worms and swarming cavern enemies.
Trivia
- Arkhalis previously generated in sword shrines before update 1.4 replaced its shrine spawn with Terragrim.
- The blade sprite is modeled after the Crissaegrim sword from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
