Fossil extraction and stacking puncture damage
Forged at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil in sets of twenty from a single Sturdy Fossil, the Bone Javelin is a specialized consumable ranged projectile. When thrown at 25 use time, the heavy spear travels in an arc and embeds itself into enemy hitboxes, dealing 20 base ranged damage with 5 knockback on contact. While embedded, each javelin bleeds the target for continuous damage over time.
Single target boss puncture against early threats
Up to six bone javelins can remain lodged in a single enemy at once, stacking their internal bleeding damage to melt tough adversaries. This makes the weapon effective against high-health pre-hardmode bosses like the Eye of Cthulhu and Skeletron. Because sturdy fossils require running desert fossil blocks through an Extractinator, players should explore underground desert chasms before stockpiling spears. Being consumable ammunition, bone javelins cannot receive weapon reforges.
Trivia
- Stacking up to six embedded javelins accelerates damage against bosses and cavern mini-bosses.
- Desert fossils can be extracted without high-tier pickaxes, allowing early access if players evade underground desert hazards.
