Dungeon acquisition and lethal NPC targeting
Dropped by Angry Bones and Dark Casters inside the Dungeon with a 0.33% drop rate. When equipped in an accessory slot, this cursed doll enables the player to damage and kill the Clothier town NPC. Striking him with standard melee weapons, ranged projectiles, or offensive spells inflicts full combat damage as if he were an aggressive enemy monster, bypassing ordinary peaceful town protections. Carrying the doll in the inventory remains safe, as the attack vulnerability only triggers when the item is slotted directly into an active accessory slot.
Skeletron summoning rituals and vanity drops
Slaying the Clothier during nighttime hours while this accessory is equipped summons Skeletron directly at the NPC's location. This mechanic allows players to challenge the skeletal boss repeatedly after the initial Old Man encounter to farm trophies, masks, or developer items in Hardmode. Defeating the Clothier under any conditions also yields the Red Hat vanity headpiece upon his death. Summoning Skeletron this way requires the Clothier to die before dawn arrives, otherwise the dungeon guardian form will despawn or defeat unprepared players.
Trivia
- Unlike the Guide counterpart, dropping this doll into underworld lava has no summoning effect.
- The item description shares the humorous quote 'You are a terrible person' with the Guide doll.
