Cobalt Breastplate

Hardmode breastplate forging and critical strike bonus

Formed from 20 Cobalt Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, the Cobalt Breastplate offers 10 defense. It enhances all critical strike chances by 5%, aiding melee swings, ranged projectiles, and magical spells equally. As the central torso component for all Cobalt armor variations, it acts as a sturdy core piece when beginning hardmode mining expeditions.

Tier comparisons and early hardmode mining value

Completing a Cobalt set requires pairing this chestpiece with Cobalt Leggings and one of three helmets. In comparison with Palladium Breastplate, which costs 24 bars and gives 3% damage plus 2% critical chance, the Cobalt Breastplate is slightly cheaper to produce and focuses purely on critical strike chance. It suits players seeking swift early hardmode armor without spending extra time gathering additional ore veins.
