Budget motorized lumbering forged from initial hardmode bars
The Cobalt Chainsaw is an economical motorized logging tool forged from 10 Cobalt Bar items at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil. With 70% axe power, it rapidly brings down surface trees and subterranean giant glowing mushrooms. Holding the attack button maintains a continuous cutting channel, dealing 23 base melee damage with 2.75 knockback to small monsters that approach while clearing wood.
Fixed channel ticks versus swinging lumber axes
Because the chainsaw operates via channeled contact, it fells trees rapidly without requiring manual swing timing. However, unlike the Cobalt Waraxe, chainsaws cannot gain melee speed bonuses and cannot roll the Light prefix. Reforging it to Godly or Demonic provides the best boosts to base damage and critical strikes. Requiring only 10 bars, it costs two fewer bars than the Palladium Chainsaw, making it an attractive low-cost logging choice.
Trivia
- The Cobalt Chainsaw requires 10 bars to craft, two fewer than the Palladium Chainsaw.
- Chainsaws operate at a fixed tick rate unaffected by melee attack speed buffs.
