Forged at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil with ten Crimtane Bar ingots and five Tissue Sample pieces, this fleshy mallet packs 55% hammer power. This power rating allows players to slope solid blocks, create half-blocks, and strip away background walls far faster than starter wooden or copper mallets. It cannot break altars, as destroying demon or crimson altars requires 80% hammer power in Hardmode.

Combat bludgeoning and background wall removal

In combat, the mallet deals 23 base melee damage with 6 knockback across a slow useTime 40 arc. The heavy impact provides useful knockback against early cavern zombies and crawlers. While its Corrupt counterpart The Breaker deals 24 damage, the Flesh Grinder matches its 55% hammer efficiency. Reforging it with Light improves demolition speed, whereas Legendary maximizes its defensive knockback.

Trivia

• Demon and Crimson Altars require 80% hammer power, so the Flesh Grinder cannot break them.
• Its heavy knockback makes it useful for knocking back subterranean enemies while renovating bases.
