First tier hardmode mining with wide overhead arcs
Crafted from 15 Cobalt Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, the Cobalt Pickaxe provides the gateway to second-tier Hardmode ores. With 110% pickaxe power, it extracts Mythril Ore and Orichalcum Ore from cavern walls. Its swinging overhead arc delivers 10 base melee damage and 5 knockback, knocking away hostile bats and clearing cobwebs while exploring.
Swung pickaxe reach and mining speed synergy
The Cobalt Pickaxe offers one tile more reach than the Cobalt Drill, making it safer to harvest ore veins near lava. Pickaxes also scale with melee attack speed increases. Equipping a Mining Helmet, an Ancient Chisel, and securing the Light prefix speeds up block breaking significantly. Forged for 15 bars, it saves three bars compared to the 18 bars required by a Palladium Pickaxe.
