Mechanic recovery drop and returning heavy strikes
Obtained with a 12.5% drop probability whenever the town Mechanic NPC meets her demise. When hurled, the Combat Wrench acts as a sturdy boomerang that deals 25 melee damage and 3.5 knockback. The wrench pierces up to three enemies along its outward arc before looping back through the air to return to the player hands.
Pre-Hardmode throwing tiering and multi-target clearing
The Combat Wrench delivers notable stopping power compared to craftable early options like the Thorn Chakram. Its triple-target piercing capability excels at repelling groups of Dungeon skeletons and surface slimes. Because it cannot be crafted, players must either let monsters defeat the Mechanic or utilize hazards like Flymeal to acquire it. As with other boomerangs, Godly or Demonic is its premier modifier.
Trivia
- The Combat Wrench was introduced in the 1.4.0.1 Journey's End update to provide the Mechanic with a themed weapon drop.
- Unlike actual wiring wrenches, the Combat Wrench cannot place or remove wire across tiles.
