Crimson heart breaking and blood cloud invocation
Acquired by destroying Crimson Hearts located deep within Crimson chasms or obtained from Hematic Crates, the Crimson Rod is a strategic magic staff. Casting it consumes 30 mana to summon a hovering red storm cloud at the cursor position. The blood cloud remains active for five minutes, continuously raining crimson droplets that inflict 12 base magic damage on enemies underneath.
Passive damage layering and magic combat synergy
Unlike direct casting wands, the Crimson Rod inflicts hands-off passive damage, allowing spellcasters to switch to direct attack weapons like Vilethorn while the blood rain pours. It is highly effective against multi-segmented targets like the Eater of Worlds or the cluster of Creepers shielding the Brain of Cthulhu. Because it deals zero knockback, it cannot receive the Mythical modifier; Demonic or Mystic is optimal for pure damage or reduced mana cost.
