Fledgling Wings generate inside Skyware Chests resting within floating island structures high above the surface. Players can also obtain them by opening Sky Crates or Azure Crates hauled from floating lakes with a fishing rod. In Journey Mode, newly created characters begin their journey with a pair already sitting in their inventory. Because they spawn naturally prior to defeating any bosses, they serve as the singular pair of wings obtainable in standard Pre-Hardmode world generation.

Early descent safety and aerial utility

Unlike Hardmode wings that grant extended vertical climbing time, Fledgling Wings offer a brief flight burst suited for scaling small cliffs and hopping across chasm gaps. Their primary strength lies in safe fall descent: holding the jump key allows players to glide gently downward, safely negating fall damage regardless of drop distance. This makes them a reliable replacement for the Lucky Horseshoe when digging hellevators down toward the Underworld. Combining them with Hermes Boots helps players build horizontal momentum before leaping into a steady glide.
