| Palladium Pickaxe | 18 × Palladium Bar | Iron Anvil |
Unlocking tier two hardmode veins with swinging strikes
Crafted from 18 Palladium Bar ingots at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, the Palladium Pickaxe enables players to gather second-tier Hardmode ores. With 130% pickaxe power, it mines Mythril Ore and Orichalcum Ore from the cavern layers. Swung overhead in a defensive arc, it deals 12 base melee damage and 5 knockback, sweeping away cave bats and clearing cobwebs while prospecting.
Melee speed stacking and reach advantages over drills
The pickaxe surpasses the Palladium Drill in reach by providing one extra tile of mining range. Furthermore, pickaxes benefit from melee attack speed boosts provided by a Mining Helmet, an Ancient Chisel, and food buffs. Reforging it with the Light prefix increases swing speed by 15%, outpacing drill mining speeds. Compared to the Cobalt Pickaxe, it requires three more bars but delivers higher pick power for faster quarrying.
Trivia
- Swinging pickaxes benefit from attack speed modifiers, while drills mine at a fixed speed.
- It can mine both Mythril and Orichalcum ores in the cavern layer.
