Lavaproof Fishing Hook

Underworld crate dredging and molten angling freedom

Recovered from Obsidian Crates and Hellstone Crates fished from Underworld lava pools with a 19% drop rate. This specialized hook enables lava fishing with any standard fishing pole and conventional surface bait. By eliminating the necessity of capturing fire-resistant Underworld critters like Lavaflies or Magma Snails with a Lavaproof Bug Net, it simplifies gathering molten crates and rare subterranean catches without tedious insect hunting across volcanic ash.

Tackle combination pathways and optimal gear setups

At a Tinkerer's Workshop, the hook combines with an Angler Tackle Bag to create the Lavaproof Tackle Bag. Unlike the pre-Hardmode Hotline Fishing Hook which locks players into moderate fishing power, this accessory permits using the Golden Fishing Rod in molten liquids. When preparing an Underworld fishing dock, reforging the hook to Angler-friendly modifiers or Warding ensures protection against roaming Lava Bats and Red Devils.

Trivia

• Standard Master Bait and Journeyman Bait can be submerged in lava without incinerating when this hook is equipped.
• Lava fishing bites occur substantially slower unless paired with Underworld bait or high fishing power.
