Any enemies within the radius take continuous 35 base magic damage with 2.5 knockback at Very fast ticks with a 12 use time. For every enemy caught in the field, the caster gains the Life Drain buff, significantly accelerating natural health regeneration.

Mob survival tactics and magic weapon comparison

Unlike the post-Plantera Vampire Knives which restore flat health chunks on projectile impact, Life Drain functions by boosting passive regeneration. It shines during dense crowd encounters like the Solar Eclipse or Blood Moon where draining five or more enemies simultaneously provides large health recovery. However, its modest single-target damage makes it secondary to Crystal Serpent for mechanical boss fights.

• The weapon does not generate traditional projectile lifesteal orbs; its healing comes entirely from applying the regeneration buff to the player.
• Targets trapped within the drain field emit pulsing red crimson blood tendrils that point directly toward the caster.
