Reeling it in requires lava angling equipment such as the Hotline Fishing Hook, Lavaproof Fishing Hook, Lavaproof Tackle Bag, or underworld bait. It thrusts at a Very fast speed (use time 20), dealing 70 base melee damage and possessing an innate base critical strike chance of 24%.

Early Hardmode spear reach and high criticals

The weapon possesses the second-highest base critical strike chance of any spear in the game, allowing frequent critical strikes without heavy accessory investment. Because it can be fished up immediately upon entering Hardmode, skilled anglers can bypass initial ore mining tiers entirely. It far exceeds the damage of early spears like Gungnir. Reforging to Godly maximizes both damage output and its already high critical strike rate.
